Atunyote (uh-Dune-yote) is the Oneida word for eagle, so it is fitting that the standout holes on Tom Fazio's Atunyote course at Turning Stone Resort & Casino are par 5s: the 520-yard fifth, which doglegs left around a pond; the 538-yard 12th, a near mirror image of the fifth; and No. 18, a 598-yard punisher that plays uphill between water and sand. More than 1,000 trees are on the site, but you'll also be challenged by the ever-present wind and your own hubris.
The resort also includes the Rick Smith-designed Shenandoah course and the Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed Kaluhyat course, as well as two nine-hole courses, Pleasant Knolls and Sandstone Hollow. Atunyote and Shenandoah are regular presences on GOLF Magazine's list of the Top 100 Courses You Can Play.
