Resort, $79.00 - $79.00

This resort, which was named to GOLF MAGAZINE's list of Silver Medal Resorts six years in a row, features 72 holes. The most recent addition, the Arthur Hills Course, features enormous sand traps and intimidating water holes. Trees run along both sides of the fairways, and many of the greens have heavy undulation. The Donald Ross Memorial Course was designed so that each hole would replicate another hole from different courses designed by Donald Ross. The only hole that is not a Ross design is the 10th, which is a copy of the par-four 14th, at Royal Dornoch in Scotland (where Ross grew up and learned the game of golf). The Heather Course has tree-lined fairways that are wide open. Playing this course is not unlike being out in the country. The course features the Yardmark system, which is a display panel in the golf cart telling the player how far to the front of the green, distance to carry a hazard, and how far he/she has hit the tee shot. GOLF MAGAZINE rated this course 55th in its 2000 "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." The Moor Course is the favorite of summer-time resident and instructor Jim Flick. The Moor features numerous doglegs and marshes as well as water hazards on 11 holes. All of the courses were built at the base of a valley. The resort offers a twilight rate and other discount rates throughout the season. Tee times can be made by calling (800) GO-BOYNE or via the web site, www.boyne.com/golf.html.
