Set alongside the Atlantic Ocean, The Breakers has two 18-hole courses open for play to guests of the resort.
The Ocean Course is the oldest 18-hole course in Florida and features elevated greens which are and heavily bunkered. First laid out in 1896 by Alexander H. Findley, the Ocean Course was redesigned in 2000 by Brian Silva.
The Breakers's Rees Jones Course is ten miles west of the resort, but a free shuttle service is available to take golfers to and from the hotel. The course itself, formerly known as Breakers West, is set in a gated community. It has been lengthened to over 7,100 yards and demands players work their shots over and around a series of lakes, marshes and waste areas. The par 3s are visually intimidating and several shots demand carrying water. The signature hole is the ninth, a dogleg-left par 4 which requires a tee shot over water, and then an approach shot over water to an elevated green. Bailing out to the right off the tee is safe, but leaves a long-iron or fairway woods approach to the green for the average player.
