Resort,
90 holes,
$$$$$
Home of the PGA Tour's WGC-CA Championship, this resort has five outstanding 18-hole courses.
The Blue Monster course, the legendary design by Dick Wilson, features long fairways (totaling 7,125 yards from the tournament tees) with undulating greens and plenty of water hazards, bunkers and deep Bermuda rough. The famous 18th hole, with its signature fountain, is one of the most recognized symbols in golf.
A three-time winner at Doral, Greg Norman designed the 148-acre Great White Course in 2000. The desert-style layout blends strategically demanding fairways, tightly-packed coquina sand, thousands of palm trees and 222 Scottish-style pot bunkers. Water is a factor on 14 of its 18 holes. The course was host to the PGA's Franklin Templeton "Shoot-Out" in 2000.
The Red course forces golfers to use strategy and control rather than power to survive. With fairways winding around serene lakes, water comes into play on 14 holes. The course provides breathtaking beauty and exhilarating challenges without intimidating length.
Breaking from Florida-style layouts, Jerry Pate redesigned the Silver course to include narrow, rolling fairways, raised tee-boxes and elevated greens. Still, water comes into play on 16 holes. The signature hole is the 14th, an island green.
Raymond Floyd recently redesigned the Gold course to follow a traditional Florida layout, incorporating gently contoured greens and strategic bunkering. Ponds, trees and marshes make the course play narrow. The 18th provides a dramatic finish as the par 4 concludes on an island green.
