The Ginn is gone, but the greatness remains at Reunion Resort. Winner of Silver Medal status in our 2008-09 Premier Resorts Awards, Reunion's rise came under visionary developer Bobby Ginn. Ginn has now departed, but the suburban Orlando resort hasn't missed a beat, thanks to the two new operators: Noble Investment Group and Reynolds Signature Communities.
Regardless of who's running the place, the golf offerings run deep. Tom Watson's Independence course features rumpled fairways and huge mounds, lending a British seaside flavor to the proceedings. Two other legends have courses here: Arnold Palmer designed the Legacy layout, and Jack Nicklaus authored the Tradition course.
The family aspects are even better. There are condos, villas and houses, an aquapark and 10-minute access to Disney. December rates start at $331 per night for a one-bedroom villa; Golf Magazine's Legends Challenge Package includes accommodations for four golfers in a three-bed villa, one round of golf per night of stay, breakfast and all taxes and fees.
