Two local boys in Charl Schwartzel and Matt Jones scored big victories this past weekend in South Africa and Australia, respectively. Schwartzel's fourth Alfred Dunhill Championship win, by four shots over Gregory Bourdy of France, came on the strength of an impressive ball-striking round while Jones' victory, his second worldwide following a win at the 2014 Shell Houston Open, was fueled by a hot putter.

A Nike staffer, the 31-year-old Schwartzel relied on a set of Nike Vapor Pro Combo irons to rank third in the field at Leopard Creek CC with 81.9 percent of greens hit in regulation. The 2011 Masters champion has won the Alfred Dunhill Championship three of the last four years.

Jones' one-stroke victory over Adam Scott and defending champion Jordan Spieth at the Australian Golf Club in Sydney was due in large part to his hot Scotty Cameron GSS prototype putter. The 35-year-old never needed more than 27 putts per round and averaged 1.57 putts per green in regulation for the event. During the 2014-15 PGA Tour season, Jones ranked 20th in strokes gained/putting.
