En route to a six-stroke victory at the Barclays Sunday, his third win in four starts and fourth of the PGA Tour season, Jason Day excelled in almost every important statistical category.
Unsurprisingly, Day’s ball striking numbers were exceptional, but it was his putting, a part of his game that has cost him big wins in the past, that was most impressive on the slippery greens at Donald Ross-designed Plainfield CC.
The Aussie finished the tournament ranked first in strokes gained putting, third in putts per GIR and fifth in distance of putts made. His putter is a TaylorMade Ghost Spider IB Black Prototype.
Day also led the field in greens in regulation, hitting 60 of 72 for an 83.33 percent clip. For the season he ranks ninth (70.46 percent) in that statistic. Day is playing RSi TP irons (4-PW) with True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 shafts. Each iron is bent slightly strong.
Off the tee, Day averaged 326.4 yards and finished the week ranked third in that stat, the same rank he holds for the season. This also helped Day finish third in strokes gained tee-to-green. His driver is a TaylorMade R15, 460-cc head with 10.5° loft.
