When golf carts become a primary mode of transportation, golf cart mishaps are sure to follow.

Residents at The Villages, a sprawling retirement community in central Florida known for its devotion to both golf and tricked-out carts, seem to have a problem distinguishing what constitutes a seat.

An article published Wednesday in the community’s newspaper, the Villages News, includes a photo of a child curled up in the storage space in the back of a golf cart. “That poor kid in the back was just holding on,” said the resident who took the incriminating photo.

Luckily for confused cart drivers (and their cramped descendants), the community offers golf cart safety classes.
