PGA Tour Pro Tees Off With 'Happy Gilmore' Swing in Final Round
22-year-old Justin Thomas won the CIMB Classic on Sunday in Malaysia to earn his first PGA Tour victory. Thomas set a tournament record with his 26-under score of 262.
John Peterson was last out of 77 entering the final round of the CIMB Classic on Sunday, so it's not like he had a lot to lose on the first tee.
But a "Happy Gilmore" swing in an actual event? Yep, he did it.
Starting his day on the 10th, Peterson wasted no time teeing up his ball, taking a few steps back and approaching it with some steam. Although it wasn’t quite the pace that Adam Sandler used to approach his ball, it was still a good head start.
Since shot tracker wasn’t available we are not sure where the ball landed, but Peterson parred the hole. That start led him to a 66, his best round of the week by eight shots. He finished 77th – in last place – at 10-over par.
