Justin Thomas Got Up at 4 a.m. Ahead of CIMB Win to Watch Alabama/Texas A&M Game

Justin Thomas Defends Title at CIMB Classic
Justin Thomas battled back from a four-shot deficit during the final round of the 2016 CIMB Classic at TPC Kuala Lampur to successfully defend his 2015 title.

They say the early bird gets the worm, but winning the CIMB Classic may not have been the only motivation behind Justin Thomas' early morning in Malaysia on Sunday.

Thomas, who played golf at the University of Alabama, said that he got up at 4 a.m. local time in Kuala Lampur to watch his alma mater take on Texas A&M in Saturday night's college football marquee game.

"The Alabama game kicked off at 3:30 our time," said Thomas. "Woke up at about 4:00 and got the computer and streamed it and just laid in bed and watched it and probably woke up a couple people in the rooms next to me. But was very pleased with our performance and it was definitely a good start today. I don't know how today would have gone if they had lost."

Thomas said he FaceTimed with some of his buddies to sing the 'Rammer Jammer' victory song after the Crimson Tide beat the Aggies 33-14. He thanked them for the morning pick-me-up.

It was worth the early wakeup call on both ends: his Crimson Tide came away the winners, and Thomas walked off with his second consecutive CIMB Classic title.
