John Daly's tweet thanking fans for wishing him a happy 50th birthday also contained an emoji-punctuated claim that Fuzzy Zoeller now owes him $150,000.
Daly told USA Today Sports that Zoeller bet him that he wouldn't make it to 50. He recounted a Masters week years ago that started with some Tuesday morning golf and a trip to the famous Augusta restaurant T-Bonz.
"Next thing I know, we were in the same clothes playing Wednesday at 7:30 in the morning and the par-3 tournament," Daly said. "We stayed through the whole nine, drinking, having a good time and eating."
According to Daly, that's when Zoeller bet $150,000 that Daly wasn't likely to see his 50th birthday.
Although he said that he'll hopefully get the cash from Zoeller, Daly promised he wouldn't come after him for more than a free bottle of Fuzzy's vodka. Apparently they never sealed the bet with a handshake.
