Hideki Matsuyama Wins Phoenix Open with Cleveland and Srixon Equipment
Rising star Hideki Matsuyama captured his second Tour victory on Sunday by outlasting Rickie Fowler in a playoff at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Fowler had a commanding two-shot lead in regulation but hit his driver over the green of the 317-yard 17th hole and into the water, leading to a costly bogey. In the playoff on the same hole, Fowler chose a 3-wood but this time hooked it into the water short and left of the green and again made bogey, losing his chance at a fourth PGA Tour win.
