Titleist Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 Putter

Category: Blade Putters
Price: $350
WE TESTED:
34”, 35” and 38” shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Testers love its clean lines and definitive feel.

PROS

DISTANCE CONTROL: Efficient pop to the ball starts an immediate, true roll; Dual Balance version ($400) has more mass in the head and grip to promote a sound, stable stroke and further enhance control; intuitive speed—the ball comes off the face the way testers expect it to.
FEEL: Both the standard-weight head and counterbalanced Dual Balance model feel nearly effortless; quiet at impact on well-struck shots; the heavier counterbalanced head is especially stable through the swing and at impact; the ball seems to adhere to the clubface before rolling out.
LOOK: Top-ranked in this category; classic beauty with touches of modernization; clean and simple at address; relatively thick topline, a slightly rounded flange and a single alignment line; the larger Dual Balance head gives testers added confidence.

CONS

The club’s sweet feel and lovely look comes with a high price tag; the standard head isn’t for players who need a lot of help on the greens; some guys prefer bolder visual cues.

BOTTOM LINE: The Select Newport 2 is the top-rated blade putter. The standard-weight version has exceptionally responsive feel and balance for superb speed and control, while the heavier Dual Balance option delivers added assistance to less confident putters.
