Titleist Scotty Cameron Futura X Putter

Category: Large Mallet Putters
Price: $350
WE TESTED:
34", 35" and 38" shaft length
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Extreme perimeter weighting and a deep CG location help to minimize the effect of mis-hits.

PROS

DISTANCE CONTROL: One of the highest-rated clubs in the category; the responsive face allows you to control your roll about as well as anything out there; heel and toe hits travel virtually the same distance as center contact; a magic wand—it makes three-putts disappear.
FEEL: The ball starts rolling immediately off the soft insert; tons of stability—testers barely notice when they miss the sweet spot; the rock-solid head just about swings itself; it’s not hard to get used to the heft of the long shaft and counterweighted grip—after a few putts, most guys like the steady balance and feel.
LOOK: The contrasting black-and-white color scheme is a big improvement over the previous Daddy Long Legs; the big head has a square profile that’s easy to line up to the hole; the wings don’t bother testers— they’re actually pretty cool in a high-tech way.

CONS

Sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish between a center hit and a heel or toe strike; the huge head is a turnoff for some testers; its heavy overall weight can present a challenge on longer putts.

BOTTOM LINE: One of the better models tested. It’s a clear upgrade over the previous version. TaylorMade takes high-MOI to the max with this ultra-game improvement beast. Players who struggle with center contact will appreciate its forgiveness and stability.
