Gear Factor: Scotty Cameron - Cameron & Crown Putters
By Michael Chwasky and Rob Sauerhaft
Tuesday, August 30, 2016

Four proven Scotty Cameron modelsĀ have been weighted specifically to perform on 33" shafts for players who prefer shorter putters.

These babies have a 360-gram head, which includes two 20-gram weights in the sole, to offset the shorter shaft length and stabilize the stroke. (By comparison, the 34" models have a 350-gram head that includes two 15-gram weights, and 35" models have a 340-gram head with 10-gram weights.)

A scaled down white Matador grip -- 10 percent thinner and one-inch shorter than the standard -- combines with the shorter shaft length and heavier sole weights to provide optimal feel and balance. The 303-stainless steel heads have a "silver mist" finish, which provides the high quality look one would expect from Cameron putters.

The series includes four head styles: Select Newport 2 blade with a 303-stainless steel face inlay, Select Newport M2 Mallet with a wraparound aluminum face-sole inlay, GoLo 5 mid mallet with a wraparound aluminum face-sole inlay, and the large winged-back mallet called Futura X5R. $379; in stores Sept. 23.
