Sharpen Your Game: Putting Stroke

This week, Ping is rolling out a new line of putters at the PGA Tour’s FedEx St. Jude Classic. Company officials confirm that its new Vault family includes blades (Anser2 and Voss) and midsize mallets (Bergen and Oslo), in satin and black finishes. Additional details are not available at this time.

Based on pictures below, these models have milled heads with a new face groove pattern. Ping’s current face groove technology, called True Roll (TR), has parallel grooves that are thickest in the middle and shallowest along the edges. The TR design produces ball speeds on the heel and toe that are similar to center hits.

The Vault series has more of a swirly, concentric face pattern. The putters also come with an oversize pistol grip, which should help quiet the hands through the stroke.

Expect Vault putters to be on the market later this summer.
