ClubTest 2015: Odyssey Works Versa 2-Ball Fang Putter

Odyssey Works Versa 2-Ball Fang Putter

Odyssey Works Versa 2-Ball Fang Putter

Category: Large Mallet Putters
WE TESTED:
34", 35" shaft length
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The revamped White Hot insert blends with a stainless-steel mesh to reduce skid off the face.

PROS

DISTANCE CONTROL: The tight roll lets you judge longer putts better than you can with many models; the ball hugs the ground, so a consistent backswing length yields predictable distances.
FEEL: The 2-Ball Fang is one of the highest-rated putters in the category; there’s just the right amount of feedback and forgiveness to let you know how you struck it; swings easily through the hitting zone with enough weight to feel stable; slightly dampened at impact with a pleasant click on solid hits.
LOOK: The top vote-getter in its class; the 2-Ball alignment aid is a proven winner and works as well as ever; its matte finish and two-tone color scheme are tasteful and high-tech; for a few testers, the 2-Ball Fang is the best-looking 2-Ball model yet.

CONS

Subtle impact sensation is a little too quiet for some testers; one or two guys actually find the highly visible Versa 2-Ball design to be a distraction; the large Fang look is too big and too far out there for our more conservative panelists.

BOTTOM LINE: Odyssey’s 2-Ball is the best-selling mallet design of all time. The newest version is more forgiving and stable than ever, it feels good, and it features a distinctive update to its popular, user-friendly alignment aid.
