ClubTest 2014: Nike Method MOD 60 Putter
Nike Method MOD 60
Category: Midsize Mallet Putters
WE TESTED: 34”, 35” shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Milled stainless steel head has “Polymetal” grooves and an arced topline.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Testers rave about the deep-milled grooves, which grip the ball and immediately get it rolling toward the hole; distance control and speed are spot-on overall—stellar on center hits—with some forgiveness on slight misses.
FEEL: Tops in the test—a slightly heavy head that’s well balanced and easy to keep on line; soft yet responsive feedback on all hits, with off-center strokes imparting slightly more vibration and just a little twisting.
LOOK: A lovely shape and size with a few high-tech industrial touches; the brushed-satin finish, single black alignment line, and symmetrical grooves add to the overall attractiveness.
The smallish clubhead and concentrated toe weighting may make the putter appear visually intimidating to some players; the Mod 60 isn’t ideal for guys who struggle to use a putter with significant toe hang.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the top-ranked models. The Method Mod 60 could be a winner for just about everyone, but especially for mid- to low-handicap, arc-stroke players who want help with distance control.
