Movetes is a new player in the women's golf apparel space. They debuted their first collection at the 2016 PGA Show in January, a line of classic pieces that wouldn’t look out of place on or off the course. Think structured houndstooth skirts, preppy but trendy knits and crisply well-made button-downs. Movetes was founded by two women who love golf and wanted to create fashion that is both functional and stylish. The result is a set of silhouettes that are timeless and hip at the same time.
Tory Burch’s Sport line is a chic approach to the preppy classics that define women’s golf apparel. There are cardigans, polos, button-downs and pleated skirts, but the sweaters are wrinkle-resistant and fastened with pearly buttons, the polos are made from performance fabrics, and the skirts are stretchy and A-line. Our favorite? A vintage sweater with large white cross-stitches around the collar in a fabric that brings it into the 21st century: merino plus moisture-wicking fibers.
FootJoy’s expansion into women’s apparel arrived in golf shops this summer. The new collection was announced in January, and the company is calling its foray in the ladies’ clothing market "FJ Golfleisure." Zip-up jackets, knit polos, lightweight vests, and fleece hoodies are all designed to be worn on the course and look fashionable off. Wrinkle and UV-proof fabric was used to make the skorts. The waterproof pants, "DryJoys," are perfect for soggy days on the links.
GFore’s women’s clothing line follows from its men’s apparel and its signature golf gloves. Choose from classic skorts, lightweight pants with a tuxedo stripe, polka dot polos, and bright turtle-necks. For golfers in search of a stylish, modern look on the course, GFore offers a preppy but updated set of options.
This year, Ping revamped their clothing offerings, releasing both a new men’s and women’s collection for 2016. For women, purple, white, and blue polos are cut from Ping’s "sensor-cool" fabric, which is stretchy, quick-drying, wrinkle-averse and sweat-wicking. There’s also a classic Merino wool cardigan in gray or royal blue, utilizing their "sensor-warm" technology to keep you cozy on the course. Belts, jackets, socks, shorts, skorts and vests round out the collection.
