ClubTest 2013: Titleist Scotty Cameron Select Newport 1.5 Putter
Titleist Scotty Cameron Select Newport 1.5 Putter
Category: Blade Putters
WE TESTED: 34", 35" shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The "Black Mist" finish reduces glare. A precision milled face enhances feel and roll.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Sick control -- it works every time; very easy to get within the leather from all lengths; anything near the middle of the clubface is on target.
FEEL: Excellent balance between the heavy clubhead and soft face; the purest sensation you'll ever find; center hits with this Newport 1.5 putter seem effortless to many testers.
LOOK: Clean, simple, and perfect at address; nothing to distract you from aiming accurately at the target; the contrast between a chrome shaft and black clubhead gives tons of confidence at setup and during the stroke.
A few testers think it's really, really good but not noticeably better than older Camerons; price can be a turnoff.
BOTTOM LINE: The top-rated putter in the test. Beautiful looks, great feel, and outstanding all-around performance make it a true winner for a variety of players.
