ClubTest 2013: Renegar Rx12 Wedges
Renegar Rx12 Wedges
WE TESTED: 48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60° with Renegar DTS Tour Control graphite shaft
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: A cutout sole combines with a lower leading edge and higher bounce angles to enhance performance from a variety of lies. A higher, more rearward center of gravity helps players to control trajectory and distance.
PLAYABILITY: Heavy head and clever sole cut through the rough like a blade iron; you can play all types of shots with ease from all over the course; manages sand shots in soft or firm conditions.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Smooth swings and solid hits give testers just what they want; greenside shots are very predictable.
FEEL: It's easy to know where the Rx12 clubhead is throughout the swing; good contact is rewarded with a quiet but pleasing sensation; testers' misses are detected but are never shocking.
LOOK: Attractive black finish appears durable; sits flush to the turf which makes it look simple to hit, even from tight lies.
The white graphite shaft is off-putting to some testers; not everyone is crazy about the feel of graphite in a wedge; some guys say these are a bit harder to hit from fairway lies than other models.
BOTTOM LINE: The Rx12 is a shrewd wedge design that provides versatile performance from all types of lies.
