True, fairway woods and hybrids lack the sex appeal of supercharged 460 cc drivers and the cachet of slick iron sets. But this year's crop of woods and hybrids offer unprecedented versatility, forgiveness and adjustability, along with ball speeds that we've never seen in these club categories. Our band of 40 ClubTesters -- average Joes just like you -- critiqued 39 new hybrid and fairway wood models during two weeks of testing at the World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine, Fla.

The Categories: Better-Player Fairway Woods (tested by 5- to 13-handicappers), Game-Improvement Fairway Woods (7 to 16), Better-Player Hybrids (1 to 9), Game-Improvement Hybrids (12 to 23).
