ClubTest 2014: Cobra Baffler XL Driver
From ClubTest 2014, tester Eric Jack talks about one of his favorite drivers in the test, the Cobra Baffler XL.

Cobra Baffler XL Driver
Category: Max Game-Improvement Drivers
Price: $249
WE TESTED:
9.5°, 10.5° with Baffler XL graphite shaft
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Plenty of rear weighting increases the club's MOI for added forgiveness. The auto-correct offset clubhead absolutely does what it promises.

PROS
DISTANCE:
One of the longest clubs tested; some say that shots get up in the air and seem to soar forever.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: The offset and draw bias all but eliminate a slice; pretty decent results on toe hits; potential slices are reduced to gentle fades; forgiveness doesn't come at the expense of length.
FEEL: Most guys find that solid contact produces a loud sound and a rewarding sensation; head is stable at impact with little or no twist on toe hits; a few testers sense increased ball speed off a springy face.
PLAYABILITY: Delivers best results on smooth swings; offset design and sole weighting easily create a high, right-to-left flight; its draw bias and offset head make it nearly impossible to slice.
LOOK: Kudos for the light blue stripe that serves as a subtle visual aid against the darker blue; club's rich color announces a driver to be reckoned with.

CONS
It's a nonadjustable head; a few testers find that impact is more heard than felt, with little or no difference between poor and solid contact.

BOTTOM LINE: One of the highest-rated drivers. A long, accurate club that's a slicer's best friend -- it straightens drives and picks up yards.

HOT STIX'S TAKE: Launch - High; Spin - High
