Cobra AMP Cell Irons

Cobra AMP Cell Irons
Category: Game-Improvement Irons
Price: $699, steel; $899, graphite
WE TESTED:
4-GW with True Temper Dynalite 90 steel shaft.
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: AMP Cell technology allows for precise weight placement and enhanced launch conditions. A special face-weld process strengthens specific areas for wood-like performance. A sculpted sole improves turf interaction for a variety of swing types.

PROS
PLAYABILITY:
High ball flight, even for low-ball hitters; very good for punch shots and controlling trajectory; shots land softly on the greens, even from longer distances.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Lots of help here -- plenty of distance even when contact isn't great; green-hitting machines with the shorter irons; these seem to have bigger sweet spots than many others.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Very good carry distance and surprisingly predictable with mid- and long irons; plenty of length and easy to judge in the scoring zone.
FEEL: Thick heads mash the ball at impact; near perfect weighting for some; stable from setup to finish; a descriptive, almost forged-like feel.
LOOK: Conservatively modern, classy look; white line on the face invites proper alignment.

CONS
Somewhat thick topline isn't everyone's favorite; a few testers say these sticks feel a little on the light side.

BOTTOM LINE: One of the highest-rated irons. Testers are impressed with its all-around performance.
