Cobra AMP Cell Fairway Wood

Cobra AMP Cell Fairway Woods
Category: Better-Player Fairway Woods
Price: $219
WE TESTED:
3-4 (13° to 16°) with Fujikura Fuel graphite shaft
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The sole design lets you change loft without affecting the face angle. The "MyFly" design allows for loft adjustments (six settings) to optimize ball flight and distance.

PROS
PLAYABILITY:
Easy to hit straight and the adjustable loft is a big help to optimize overall performance; tears up rough and compact sand with ease.
DISTANCE: Monster off the tee; it can be used as a driver replacement; as long as any fairway wood in the test; it provides consistent distance.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Directionally it corrects well, as if it wants to move the ball back toward the target; solid hits track right at the target; impressively straight on the course.
FEEL: Fantastic sensation through the ball; crushes it at impact, almost like persimmon; stable and responsive throughout the swing.
LOOK: Very good appearance at address, particularly on the tee; multiple head color options are a surprising hit with most testers.

CONS
A few testers would like a simple black clubhead rather than one with bright colors; some guys prefer a weightier sensation through the swing.

BOTTOM LINE: One of the longest clubs in the test is also one of the highest-rated models.
