ClubTest 2016: Cleveland TFI 2135-1.0 Putter Review

Cleveland TFI 2135-1.0 Putter
James Westman

CLEVELAND TFI 2135-1.0

CATEGORY: Blade Putters
PRICE: $130
WE TESTED: 34", 35" lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: A raised alignment line helps you aim at your target, even as your eye position shifts.

PROS

DISTANCE CONTROL: A two-putt machine, best on slower greens and lags that require more aggressive strokes; center hits get rolling quickly with predictable speeds and distances; raised sightline improves alignment for even greater consistency.
FEEL: A unique, maybe unfamiliar impact feel that can become addictive; soft yet resounding, it relays clear information on contact; relatively stable on toe and heel hits; fairly light putter may take some adjustment, but it's easy to control once you settle in.
LOOK: The raised sightline works -- whether you set up inside, outside, or right over the target line, you can get the face lined up square; traditional shape and size with a bright copper face and matte black finish.

CONS

Overall look is too busy for a few guys; mixed reviews on feel -- one group loves the sensation at impact, while another camp finds it too dead; some players need more heft to help control.

BOTTOM LINE: It may look like a typical blade, but this one's a different animal. Both the raised visual aid and the sensation at contact set it apart. It can be a stroke-saver for those who take a liking to its idiosyncrasies.
