ClubTest 2013: Callaway RAZR Fit Xtreme Fairway Woods
Callaway RAZR Fit Xtreme Fairway Woods
Category: Better-Player Fairway Woods
WE TESTED: 3 (15°; +/- 1°) with Aldila Trinity graphite shaft
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The “Speed Frame” clubface promotes faster ball speeds and improved forgiveness on off-center hits. An adjustable hosel allows the clubface to be set open, square, or closed to dial in trajectory and direction.
PLAYABILITY: Consistent high, straight ball flight; helpful from the rough -- the compact head cuts through almost anything.
DISTANCE: A real strength; several guys report gains of 5 to 15 yards; high trajectory can lead to bombs off the tee.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Very consistent on solid strikes; relatively small distance loss on moderate mis-hits; good directional correction without much penalty left or right.
FEEL: One of the best -- like you're crushing the ball; classic impact sound with an explosive sensation as the ball leaves the face; the face seems to absorb the ball and throw it forward.
LOOK: Compact clubhead and shallow face is a big hit; sleek, low-profile head instills confidence in all lies.
Not the best fairway wood for shaping shots; overall weight is a little lighter than some testers prefer.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the top-rated fairway woods. It's a long hitter, plenty accurate, and feels good to boot.
