Callaway Golf announced today that it is acquiring Toulon Design, a company that produces premium, milled putters. The company's co-founder Sean Toulon has been in the golf industry for more than 30 years, most recently as executive VP of TaylorMade. Under the new agreement Toulon will assume duties of SVP, Callaway Golf, and GM, Odyssey.
"Sean is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable leaders in the golf equipment industry, and we are excited to have him come aboard to help us continue to lead the putter category with great designs and the highest performing innovations," commented Chip Brewer, president and chief executive officer at Callaway Golf Company. "With today's announcement we fortify our position as the number one equipment company in golf and add valuable experience to our leadership team."
Odyssey has been one of the most popular putter brands in golf since it's acquisition by Callaway in 1997 and should only grow stronger through the new assets and leadership provided by Toulon. While at TaylorMade for sixteen years he was instrumental in the introduction of numerous innovative golf club designs including the Rossa and Spider putter lines, among others.
