With the new Speed Police campaign, TaylorMade is proving once again that there's no reason to be afraid to push the boundaries of product development or marketing and advertising. The "Speed Police" are marionette versions of TaylorMade players Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Justin Rose, and Sergio Garcia, who bust players for using old out-of-date drivers and recommend replacing them with TaylorMade's new JetSpeed metalwoods.
The unique campaign, created by LA-based agency Zambezi, is designed to remind golfers that the game is about having fun and hitting the ball long. According to Zambezi creative director Kevin Buth, he "Speed Police" series is simply an opportunity to stand out in a business that's a bit lacking in creativity.
"Every major stick and ball sport is given license to push their storytelling to the brink of insanity, but people never expect the same kind of disruption from a golf brand’s advertising," Buth said in a written statement. "In a sport that desperately needs fresh air, TaylorMade definitely isn't afraid to push the status quo."
