If you love golf, you will want to play the Grande Dunes Resort Golf Course boasting unparalleled grandeur and intrigue. The spectacular layout is centered around the views of the Intracoastal Waterway, the Marina at Grande Dunes and the four-diamond resort, Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. The Resort Course was created by design team, The Roger Rulewich Group and opened in 2001. This is a Championship 18-hole Myrtle Beach golf course which was recently named the “National Golf Course of the Year” by the National Golf Course Owners Association of America. Its spectacular layout, a Roger Rulewich Group design, is positioned on a high bluff creating a spectacular view of the Intracoastal Waterway, Grande Dunes Marina and the four-diamond resort, Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. The superior links-style design unfolds itself in a relaxed, gracious manner enticing golfers with beauty while taunting them with danger. Fair but challenging, each golf hole, with six sets of tee boxes, presents a different dilemma to test the most confident scratch handicapper or beginner while ensuring a great round for golfers of every skill level. You will discover the rolling green fairways and picturesque views from every hole of the Grande Dunes Resort Club. This Myrtle Beach golf course has a dramatic design featuring seven holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway. Measuring over 7,600 yards from tip to tip this Myrtle Beach golf course is one of the longest on the East Coast and boasts numerous elevation changes, wide Bermuda fairways, generous bent grass greens and more than 34 acres of freshwater lakes. Grande Dunes Resort Club sets a new standard of golf for world-class play.
The rating of the course is 70.4 with a slope of 126. The Greens are L-93 Bentgrass. There are two notable signature holes that everyone likes to challenge.
The first one is a par 3 14th, which plays to an imposing 244 yards from the back Gold tee. From the middle White tee, though, it is a more manageable 158 yards. The architects set the green at an angle, meaning that the player who can shape a long iron or fairway wood from left to right will have the opportunity to fit the ball onto a green that is less than 20 yards wide and over 40 from front to back. The Waterway sits to the right of the putting surface and a large, jagged-edged bunker will catch shots left short. There is some bailout left of the green, but it leaves a tricky up-and-down. Best to summon your steely nerve, hit the green and walk away with a par.
The other signature hole is the 6th, a short par 4 that plays 365 yards from the Gold tees and 305 from the White tees, features a bunker in the center of the fairway.
The amenities at the golf course make it feel like a private course with all of the finer things expected at a private club. Enjoy the 10,000 square-foot Mediterranean-styled clubhouse which includes a full-service golf shop, lockers for men and women, a private dining room, large dining area and an outside veranda that overlooks the 9th and 18th greens of the Grande golf course, the Marina at Grande Dunes and the four-diamond resort, Marina Inn at Grande Dunes.
