Don’t be lulled by the jaw-dropping beauty and shortish yardage of this 1986 Robert Trent Jones Jr. design in northwestern Maine—the reason it’s sloped 146 from the tips is because missing a fairway or green is fatal. Nevertheless, once you soak up the views at holes 10 and 11, a downhill par-4 and par-3, respectively, that skirt of the Carrabassett River and which are backdropped by timber-choked mountain slopes, you’ll forget all about score.
