Golf.com Editorial

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation pioneered the tribal casino resort concept with its wildly successful Foxwoods property in southeastern Connecticut, but it wasn’t until 2005 that they had a golf course worth bragging about. Actually, Rees Jones artistically chiseled two strong tracks from the rocky terrain, the North and the South. The South is strictly private, but the paying public is hardly shortchanged: with its striking visuals, a rating of 76.6 and a slope of 146, the North is all the golf you could want. Jones routed his holes over and through a spectacular but often unyielding landscape comprised of wetlands, rock ledges and heavily rolling, wooded terrain. Lake of Isles occupies land that once served as a Boy Scout camp; if you can make your way around this stern test with one ball, you’ve earned your badge.
