This course was amazing. It blew my mind

I'm a big fan of the North Course. Being a 24 handicap golfer, the South is just too much. But the North Course is interesting, challenging and superbly scenic. On the front nine you are out on the ocean for holes one, two, six and seven. Six and Seven are two of the most memorable holes I've ever played. The rest of the course is comfortable for players of all skill levels. Out-of-towners really get socked with higher greens fees. The best bet is to walk on in the early afternoon and avoid the booking fees at least. But don't let the money scare you away. This is a fine course!

I played the North Course during my honeymoon in November 2010. This was certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity, being able to play a PGA course and it did not disappoint. While challenging even from the white tees, I didn't feel worn out at the end of the round. The fairways are fairly wide open allowing for some fade off the tee. The greens rolled pretty fast, which made the short game a fun challenge. The rough did come into play at times, but wasn't a hurdle with every hole. I loved how on almost each and every hole you had the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Ocean as a back drop (esp. Hole #6, the signature hole for the course - my only par for the round!). It was certainly a fun round of golf, both being able to play and take in the surroundings. The pro shop staff and other personnel around the course were very friendly and helpful. If you ever get a chance to go out to San Diego, I would certainly recommend taking in a round at Torrey Pines. It is an opportunity you won't want to pass up, on a PGA course (and US Open course) that is worth the value for the challenging and fun round you are sure to enjoy.
