MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Stuart Appleby made two long putts in the last three holes for a 6-under 65 to win the Australian Masters, his first victory on home soil in nine years.

Appleby rallied from a seven-shot deficit, making birdies on the final two holes for a one-shot victory. Adam Bland, who closed with a 73, missed a 10-foot eagle putt on the last hole that would have forced a playoff.

Defending champion Tiger Woods completed an entire year without a victory, although he finished in style. Woods made two eagles over the last four holes for a 6-under 65 to finish fourth, matching his best result of the year.

Appleby last won Down Under in the 2001 Australian Open.
