The Approach G5 comes with thousands of preprogrammed courses, so unlike its main competitors, it's good to go out of the box. The touch-screen display allows you to dial in distances without any awkward fumbling.

Something else you should know: The satellite mapping of pre-downloaded courses (as with many GPS gizmos) may not include the latest course changes.

SEVILLE, Spain (AP) — Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie will celebrate his 500th European Tour appearance at this weekend's Andalucian Open in Spain.

The 45-year-old Montgomerie is hoping the milestone will help motivate him to win a 32nd European title.

The Scottish golfer has amassed nearly $32 million in career earnings, with a record 182 top 10 finishes since his debut in 1987. But he's slipped to 137th in the rankings, meaning he will miss next month's Masters.

This weekend's tournaments will help determine the Masters field, as the top 50 players in Monday's rankings earn a spot at Augusta.
