ERIN, Wis. (AP) — Peter Uihlein defeated Scott Langley 2 and 1 in match play Friday in his attempt to become the first golfer since Tiger Woods to successfully defend his title.

Uihlein's victory over Langley put him into the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.

The golfer from Orlando, Fla., says he "sneaked one out" against Langley.

Woods won three straight amateur titles from 1994 to 1996.
